The Development Process: Step 5 – Site Implementation and Launch

After the web site has been completely assembled and tested in the production process, the entire site is then uploaded to the destination server and checked once again. During production, any CGI will have already been tested on the destination server, but now the entire site undergoes final testing. When it is ready, the site is released, and the web site marketing, promotion, and maintenance begins.

Promoting and marketing a Web site location is an important part of building a successful Web site. Marketing strategies will vary depending on the main objective of the web site (to sell a product, to provide customer support, to disseminate information), but a good starting point is to get the site listed in as many Internet search engines as possible. Fine Line Communications can advise you on current marketing strategies and can also implement several useful programming tricks within the Web site itself to make it as visible as possible to the search engines.
